Spring Peeper Merlot

Our Spring Peeper line is named after the Spring Peeper frogs that come out each spring.  No bigger than the end of your thumb, these tiny frogs come together by sheer numbers to make a mighty chorus heralding the end of winter.

Grapes:  Merlot (Mer-low)

History:  The most widely planted grape in France’s Bordeaux region, and one of the most popular red varietals.  Merlots are thin skinned and typically produce a medium bodied wine.

Flavor Profile:  Our Merlot expresses dark fruit aromas such as currants and blackberries, and age nicely.  The palate is rich, full bodied and deep, showing good balance and finish.  The layers of red fruits are enhanced by aging in French oak barrels.

Food Pairings:  Grilled steak, lobster and lamb.

Dog and Pony Show Sweet Red Wine

Jack, the miniature horse, and Wilson, the beagle, are both animals here on the farm. Jack is a very spirited little horse who has been known to chase guests when he escapes his pen, walk right up into the pavilions during events, and swim in the river. He lives on the side of a hill down by the pavilions with his better half, Jill. Wilson is our native hunter who arrived on the owner’s doorstep on Mother’s Day in 2006, and can most likely be found soundly sleeping in the parking lot.

Grapes: Rougeon

History: Rougeon is a dark-skinned French American hybrid which produces fruit with a brilliant hue.

Flavor Profile: With this sweet wine you can taste the dryer red fruits, such as prunes & raisin characteristics. It has sweetness but also has structure. It has the final, tannins, and enough acid and astringency to balance out the sweetness.

Food Pairings: Berries, meatloaf, and fried chicken.

Mary Sue Blue Extra Sweet Blueberry

Our Mary Sue! Animal lover extraordinaire.

Grapes: Rougeon sweetened with blueberry juice.

History: Rougeon is a dark-skinned French American hybrid which produces fruit with a brilliant hue.

Flavor Profile: A tangy, tasty and sprightly wine infused with the flavor of freshly picked blueberries straight from the bush. This wine is as sweet, delectable and vivacious as Mary Sue herself.

Food Pairings: Pastries and cheeses.

Jade’s Sweet Reward Rose Table Wine

Jade was our German Shepard, who was trained, and probably born, in South Africa. She went to Iraq in 2005 and spent five years as a bomb-detection dog, assigned to the entrance of the green zone.  Jade and her trainer, Fairmont native Tom Ledsome, searched thousands of vehicles, and hundreds of packages. During their time not one device ever made it into these areas; potentially saving thousands of lives. Tom and Jade then returned to Baghdad, and supervised a shift of 30 teams. After Jade broke a toe on her back paw, Tom asked his good friend Mickey if Jade could retire at Heston Farm. She lived on the farm from 2011 to 2016.

Grapes: Vidal Blanc (Vee-dahl BlahN) DeChaunac (duh SHAW-nak)

History: Rose or blush wines can be made from a red grape, or from combining a white with a red. Ours is made by mixing a white, Vidal Blanc and a red, DeChaunac.

Flavor Profile: Looking for a sweet reward for yourself or a friend?  Try our Rose.  Made with Vidal Blanc & De Chaunac, it’s often compared to White Zinfandel.  Its light body and delicate flavors pair with everything. “Drink Pink” when you want a food-friendly versatile wine with hints of strawberry.

Food Pairings: Ham, grilled chicken, and melons.
